My goal is to help people fit fitness into their lives, even if they don’t work with me. The resources on this page have helped me in my fitness journey—I hope they help you too.

Equipment & Apparel

Acumobility Ball & Ultimate Back Roller

Like many of you, I struggle with chronic neck pain and headaches. I do massage therapy once a month, but that alone isn’t enough to manage the daily stresses on my body. A few years ago, I discovered something called an Acumobility Ball.

Initially, I was like, dude—it’s just a ball with a flat side. I might as well just use a baseball or lacrosse ball. And then I tried the Acumobility Ball—it is a game-changer. Since discovering it for myself, I’ve used it with hundreds of clients to help them work through trigger points that brought immediate relief.

Click here to purchase an Acumobility ball (I recommend a two-pack), the Ultimate Back Roller, or any of their other fabulous equipment.

Training Socks

I hate shoes. Once I started to deadlift regularly, I fell in love with training in just my socks. But many gyms don’t love that, and your socks aren’t exactly the safest thing in the world when it comes to traction. That’s where these socks come in. The guys at Pedestal Footwear are on their fifth version of these amazing training socks. They’ve got plenty of traction, a silver lining to kill all odor and bacteria, and they’re made in the United States.

So if you are ready to try these socks for yoga or strength training, visit this site to pick up a pair and let the muscles in your feet start working again.

Books

Start Where You Are

I wrote this book to help you take the first steps to feeling better, appreciating your body, and working toward new goals. Not only will you learn why you should go beyond cardio-only workouts, but this book will also guide you through the basics of strength training, assuage your fears, and arm you with the tools you need to make sustainable change.

The New Rules of Lifting

This book changed my life. Literally. I honestly believe that if not for this book, I’d be well on my way to osteoporosis. Lou Schuler tells you why and how strength training can help you, how to get started, and Alwyn Cosgrove throws in six months of programming. And as if that wasn’t enough, Cassandra Forsythe includes several pages of healthy recipes and nutritional information to help get you started. I’ve given this book as a gift over and over again and kept my original copy for the recipes and programs as well.
